BitDefender developers have unveiled a new antivirus product for the leading enterprise messaging solution from IBM.The release is targeted at large enterprise customers. The application was released in two separate versions, one supporting Lotus Domino 5.06 and higher (up to and including the new 6.x generation) and one for the legacy Lotus Domino 5.0 to 5.0.5.

BitDefender for Lotus Domino is designed to scan both email traffic and the database files. Developed as a native Notes application, BitDefender is integrated directly with the core Lotus Notes document engine, providing a graphical user interface (GUI) that is intuitive and easy to use.

“The Lotus installations base is impressive, and for good reason. IBM technology is a great productivity tool, because it makes information exchange so easy. It would be a shame to restrict that for fear of viruses and other attacks. Our new product line comes at a time when customers have begun to think that too much openness is a bad thing. It’s not, and we strive to make the free flow of information safer every day” declared Bogdan Dumitru, BitDefender CTO.
