LinuxDefender Live! CD launched at LinuxConf 2003

New set of premieres from the BitDefender team

The first version of the LinuxDefender Live! CD was launched at the LinuxConf 2003, the annual Romanian Linux Users Group (LUG) conference.

LinuxDefender Live! CD is a BitDefender re-mastered Knoppix distribution. It was designed to provide users of both Windows and Linux computers with virus incident rescue tools.

Whether your Linux mailserver just got rootkited or your Windows gamestation just got Slammer'd, it's LinuxDefender to the rescue! Just put the bootable CD in your drive to start a turn-key Linux OS which comes packed with almost 1.5 gigabytes of utilities.

This distribution contains two world premieres: the world's first ever SAMBA 3 compatible commercial antivirus and FULL NTFS write support - available using the captive NTFS write project. You can use it to access Windows partitions. LinuxDefender Live! integrates the latest BitDefender for Linux security solution into the GNU/Linux Knoppix Live CD distribution.

Hot features include instant SMTP antivirus and antispam protection configurable via a webmin module and a desktop interface. The BitDefender antivirus can scan and disinfect existing hard drives (including Windows NTFS partitions), remote Samba/Windows shares or NFS mount points.

LinuxDefender Live! CD includes BitDefender SMTP Proxy Antivirus/AntiSpam for Linux, a web-based interface for configuring BitDefender SMTP Proxy and a free command-line scanner - BitDefender Linux Edition - integrated into KDE.

    This Antivirus and AntiSpam solution scans, disinfects and filters email traffic for any existing mail server, regardless of platform and operating system. BitDefender SMTP Proxy is started at boot time and scans all incoming email traffic. To configure BitDefender SMTP Proxy, use BitDefender Remote Admin (installed as a Webmin module).

    The freeware antivirus scanner included in LinuxDefender Live! CD is integrated directly into KDE, the default desktop in LinuxDefender Live!
